The Wonderful Week After Christmas

Christmas is wonderful, but so is the week AFTER Christmas.  It’s a time of reflection, looking forward, decluttering and organizing.  Here’s a short list of ideas for things to do the week after Christmas:

·      Take down Christmas decorations and put them away before New Year’s Eve.
·      Put up some new winter décor, like branches in a vase, new displays on the mantel and end tables, and scented candles.
·      Take advantage of the motivation and season to declutter office space, file cabinets or kitchen cabinets.
·      Sit down with your journal and make a list of things you accomplished in the past year—then celebrate!
·      On a piece of paper, make a list of mistakes you made, or some things you wish you'd done differently.  Over in your journal, write down what you learned.  Then forgive yourself and burn the piece of paper as a symbol of forgiveness.
·      Map out second semester for those of you with children in school, whether public or at home.  Write dates on your calendar, set goals, make a written list of what’s coming up.

No need to get overwhelmed.  This list may not serve your needs.

Perhaps you celebrate Epiphany or leave your Christmas decorations up longer.  Maybe you’d rather spend the week kicking back to recover from the busy holidays.

No problem.  Just let this list spark your thinking on some ways to wrap up the old year and start fresh in the new year.  Have a wonderful Week After Christmas!

I love the idea about recording the lessons learned and burning/forgiving the list of mistakes.  thank you for that.

We are having a party this we to take advantage of lots of church.friends being home for the holidays. So I will be cleaning and preparing for that while helping my babies get back on track after the crazy weekend. Next weekend is our (#6) which we will probably have a mini celebration for as we have a 6 month old who we can’t leave over night. Then I hope to maybe grab an hour or two with a notebook and Bible to plan my new year. :) This is a nice list to think of next week.
