A Little Marriage Pick-Me-Up
A while ago, a friend who has been married more than 50 years shared a fun little tip with me. Get a mini-marker board with a pen and eraser. Place it somewhere “private,” like a closet or drawer, where your husband will see it. Then use it to write appreciative notes to your spouse.
On ours, I wrote “I love you because…” and we take turns writing little notes to each other.
I show you the blank version because the messages can be rated, ahem, PG-13. 🙂
This is one of those things where you determine to give without return. Your husband may feel uncomfortable writing messages. But keep at it, and who knows! At any rate, it’s a good chance to encourage and compliment him.
Have fun with it!
I am so glad your family is OK! You are so right about things changing
in a minute!!! We need to love and appreciate the ones in our lives,
because the time we have with them is so precious.
Love the eraser/board idea !
Oh, we are grateful, too! Life is so precious and it’s easy to lose sight of that in the daily-ness!
I didn’t even realize that our note writing was a ‘thing’ until I read this…but for years we have written one another instant messages – he’s a computer programmer, so I am convinced that what he reads on a screen gets processed better 🙂 We don’t share computers with anyone, so we have the freedom to write more…intimate…messages. Thanks for the encouragement – I’ll step up what we’ve been doing!
Oh, that is funny, Melissa! My husband is NOT a computer guy so that wouldn’t process, lol. But text messages are fun, too!
I’m changing my love text approach to…I love you because….. Great idea, thx! Just made your no bake cookies today! Thought of you 😉
Cute idea to text that, Amity!
This is a great suggestion. This will give each spouse a much needed affirmation of their love beyond just saying “I Love You.”
Isn’t it fun? My friend who told me about it is in her 70’s and she and her husband do this. Love it!
Hubby and I have written msgs. to each other too. We have developed our own special “code” for privacy purposes since we have always written on little homemade notecards or post-its. Love the dry erase idea.
I’m very thankful your family is okay! So true that in an instant things can change. Blessings to you!
Haha! Code is a great idea! Our board is in our closet on the shoe shelf at the end, but sometimes kids have to put things away. Don’t want TMI, lol
Love this idea. Next time I’m at the store, I’ll be on the lookout for one of these boards and sneak it into his sock drawer 🙂
I found our board for $1 at Staples!
So glad you family is ok. That is so scary.
love the message board, I think I will go out and buy one today.
Thanks Tami! Have fun with the board!
